Grandmaster Sang Ki Paik is an 8th Degree Black Belt with over 45 years of experience in martial arts. He was born in Taegu, Korea and began his training in martial arts at age nine and continued throughout the time he lived in Korea. He served an internship with his instructor, Master Nam Do Choi.

Grandmaster Sang Ki Paik attended Young Nam University where he graduated with a degree in pharmacy. While he was in college, he was on the Tae Kwon Do Team and won a gold medal in the National Tae Kwon Do Championships. He was also a member of the National Tae Kwon Do Team.

Grandmaster Sang Ki Paik served as a Master Tae Kwon Do Instructor in the Korean Army from 1967 to 1969. He served in Vietnam in 1969. He received an honorable discharge from the Korean Army as a First Lieutenant.

Upon request from the United States, he came to America in 1973 to begin instructing Tae Kwon Do. He graduated from Ohio Northern University as a registered pharmacist in the United States. Today as an American citizen, he has Paik’s Tae Kwon Do Academy in Columbus, Ohio. Grandmaster Sang Ki Paik is married and has three children.

To summarize the Grandmaster’s achievements in Tae Kwon Do to date: Member of the Korean National Tae Kwon Do Team, Gold Medal in the Korean National Tae Kwon Do Championships, international referee, American and Olympic referee, U.S. Tae Kwon Do National Team Coach, U.S. Tae Kwon Do National Team Manager, secretary of the International Martial Arts Federation, member of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation, member of the Korean Tae Kwon Do Federation and head president and head instructor at Paik’s Tae Kwon Do Academy.

Grandmaster Paik has trained many Black Belts. Some of his students have won national recognition in tournament competition. Some operate Tae Kwon Do schools and others are instructors and referees. Each student is encouraged to reach the highest level of Tae Kwon Do through dedication, knowledge, and practice.
